Porque aulas particulares são melhores do que Escolas de Línguas.

As someone who learned English and is studying French, German and testing the Michel Thomas Method with an 8 week course on Polish, I can testify before you as a living witness that regular language schools with a dozen or more students are a failure as far as teaching languages go.
I've had my share of disappointment when I studied (more than once) at some of these regular language schools that rip off your hard earned money to make up for the advertisement promotions they put on TV, magazines, the Internet and whatnot.
If you study in one of those schools with, say, 19 students, you have only 1/20 or 5% of the teacher's attention. If they focus on conversation, you'll have only 5% of the time to speak and interact with other students. They may charge you 240 reals a month with 15 hours of class each month whereas a private teacher could charge the same fees with the advantage that YOU would be the ONLY student, the whole class and will have 100% of the attention. Besides, with a private teacher, you can negotiate, you can deal, you can talk on a personal level, negotiate prices, change the time schedule, choose the method that best suits you, things that are impossible to do in a regular school. Regular schools teach according to the rythm of the worst student. If you're smart, you'll be wasting your precious time and money because some stupid students can't keep up with the smartest students, like you.
What regular schools will take to teach you in 4 to 7 years, a private teacher can teach you in only 8 months, and in some cases, like the "Michel Thomas Method" or some mixed formula, in as little as 8 weeks! I'm studying Polish now, I've just finished the second lesson and I already know more than I would know if I had been studying Polish in a school for a month.
I kid you not. Believe me. I know what I'm talking about.
Regular language schools are like dinosaurs. They'll disappear. Private teaching and coaching will take over their place.
Thank goodness!
